Route 66 ~ A Road Trip Through The Past ~

Almost Done! I Promise, I will be posting my "Big Reveal" very soon!

Until then, I'm planning my first trip...

The Mother Road - Route 66

Have you ever made this trip? Do you have any stories or tips you can give me?

This is the video that made me cry! Yes, I am totally corny, and unfortunately, because my kids aren't kids anymore, I seemed to have missed this wonderful Pixar movie! The story is based around the vehicles and buildings of the old route 66. I'm going out to rent it today. Is says so much about the times we're livin in doesn't it?

I've driven part of Rt 66...New Mexico, Arizona and loved, loved, loved it! Fabulous trip and I fondly remember the teepee 'hotel' just west of Gallup...wish I could have stayed there but stayed in a Gallup hotel www.elranchohotel.com where actors stayed when filming Old West movies. Just as much atmosphere, just not a teepee -smile.
Had a great time finding fiber and yarn stores too. I remember that trip fondly and want to return...have a GREAT time!

Do you remember the TV show, Route 66? My dad had a machine shop and the crew driving the car stopped into his shop for repairs! Cool, huh?
I've been on the stretch in OK. I think Diners, Driveins and Dives did a few segments on places to eat along the highway. Check it out.

Christine, I'm sure you'll love the movie Cars. I have the soundtrack downloaded for the boys to cruise in our car to. They love it!

Can't wait to read all about the maiden voyage. What a perfect route for the start of many adventures in the Shasta! Cool!

There was a 60's Shasta listed on Craiglist here for $1995, gutted out. Thought of you & how much fun you're having restoring your's-smiles!

I was on Rt 66 back in 1962, I'm sure it has changed since then. We went from St. Louis to California. I remember the "open" road the most, no speed limit then. A town on the map was a gas station and a little diner. So much fun!

I am so wanting to be a stow away in that cute
Tin cottage of yours .
Route 66 sounds like a fabulous dream come true.
I have not seen the movie Cars .
No little ones around :)
I feel so out of touch sometimes.
I have been on some of the old route 66 in parts of Oklahoma,Texas, and New Mexico .
Had a ball .
This was many years ago .
I am sure that you'll find tons of helpful info on the internet.
Happy Trails

I'd love to get out to Route 66 but haven't made it yet. There's a pretty decent twitterer whose focus is on route 66 tourism: http://twitter.com/Route66Kicks.
I can't wait to see your reveal!
